| - TERRIBLE SERVICE! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
After waiting in line, I told the clerk my name and gave her my DL & CC as requested. She then said "Your rental is for 9 days? Are you the only driver?" I replied yes, as I was going to be the only driver and then I was THREATENED with grand theft auto if Nu found out someone else had driven the car. Again, I was to be the only driver and re-affirmed that no one else would be driving it and the clerk doubled-down and threatened me again. "It's also a $500/day impound fee while you go to court for grand theft auto..." Now I'm pissed, and to make matters worse, the clerk takes a call from a customer and makes me wait 3-5 minutes before moving on with my rental. "Do you want regular or premium insurance?" to which I replied, "None, American Express provides coverage" and then I was lied to and told that Nu requires comprehensive coverage and the clerk insisted on proof of insurance.
Now, insurance cards do not list the details of the policy (collision vs comprehensive) so giving her an insurance card would prove nothing. And, as I travel for work and rent cars often, I have never once been required to show proof of insurance nor been told that the rental insurance provided by American Express was insufficient. But then again, I have never dealt with this 2nd tier dumpster fire of a rental car company.
So the clerk informs me, in the most insulting way possible, that the insurance would be another $15/day, effectively doubling the price of the rental. I took back my DL & CC, called Lyft and got the hell out of there before I was threatened with other lies and bullshit.
I will never deal with this awful shitshow of a company again. Back to Enterprise/National/Hertz....
