| - As a disclaimer - I live in hotels for about half of every year for work so when my boyfriend received some tickets to the Bank of America 500 I decided to cash in some of my many hotel points to stay here.
This hotel isn't new by any means but it is very well taken care of. The front desk was quick to check me in, the elevators were fast and my room was clean. The public areas of the hotel and the "living room" area of the suite were what showed it's age the most, but still, everything was in very good condition! The bedroom itself looked as though it had had some recent updates and we slept very well, our window overlooked the parking lot and a few holes of the golf course, we could also see the track in the distance. The room was very quiet, actually the whole hotel was which surprised me given the large event weekend and that it was connected to a convention center!
The breakfast included was good (not great). It included fresh fruit, eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy, cereal, an omlette station, and various breads/muffins/donuts. The evening reception for the two free drinks per adult however was great! Lots of snacks (guac, veggies, etc).
Some of the reasons we picked this hotel included brand loyalty, proximity to the race track, the free breakfast, and shuttle availability. Given that, you can guess how surprised I was when I asked for the shuttle to take us to the track and the gentleman at the desk told me that it doesn't run there and I should walk or take an Uber instead. Figuring perhaps it was for crowd control we proceeded outside to wait for our Uber (we didn't want to walk mile or so since it was raining.) The whole time we waited we continued to see the two or three shuttles pick people up and take them away, we assumed it was to dinner nearby. Later that night we walked home from the drag racing track along the major highway...no sidewalks!!
The next day as we left to walk to the race and we were along the same major roadway an Embassy Suites shuttle pulled over to the side of the road and it's driver, Bryce Jones, asked if we wanted a ride. Of course we did! We told him we were surprised he could take us and told him what the man at the front desk said and he was shocked, he said he pretty much *only* drives to the track on weekends like this. I am glad we met Bryce!
Later that evening while waiting for the shuttle to pick us up I met some other guests who were told the same thing by the same man and Bryce swooped in and save the day for them too!
All in all though, I would stay here again...I would just be more questioning of answers that don't make sense from employees that perhaps weren't trained as well.
