  • I joined here a couple of months ago. This used to be a Gold's gym but now it is Goodlife and I don't know what the difference is because I never went to Gold's. The staff is very friendly here, but more so when you are interested in signing up. Beyond that, I don't really know what they do...but they're nice. I thought it would be cool if they were around more when I need a spotter rather than having to disturb another patron who is, like me, just trying to enjoy their music and solitude while working out. OK I should mention there was a Sikh dude who I have seen on patrol so he was certainly available if I needed him but I have not ever seen anyone else. Also, I don't know what their routine is when it comes to organizing the weights section. Many gym users are sloppy and don't put back their weights and I think this could be resolved by more staff presence in that area. Finally, I don't go to the gym to watch TV but damn, when it's NHL playoffs, can't they have CBC and TSN available on the treadmills and elipticals? Now the good stuff...they spent money on changing the DISMAL lockers in the men's change room (can't speak for the women's). It's much nicer now. They have PLENTY of machines to use and the weights area is big! Compared with the massive Beacon Hill location, Northland is far superior for it's weight lifting area. Beacon Hill is better suited for all Goodlife's FANTASTIC classes! Any of the les mills classes are awesome and really make you feel like you are getting full value for your payments. There are so many more things available that I haven't even tried. All in all, I'm happy to call the Northland location MY gym, and I have seen positive changes happen but they just need to get a little better. My final observation is that there is a cool climbing wall there that should be USED!
