| - I wanted Indochino to work. I'd been following them since they started up, and had spread my enthusiasm for the concept to several people over the years, a few of whom had bought suits through their website that they actually liked. In the end, I've ended up with an unwearable suit and a bad taste in my mouth.
The first problem came with the actual measurements. The manager measured me and appears to have done a rough job. The suit built on those measurements was very off, (both for me, and my housemate who came in after and was measured by the same person). If the suit had just been a bit too large, I'd have understood because it can just be taken in. The suit was a weird mess though, way too large here, too short there. My pants were great, maybe possibly to small, but I'm pretty happy with them. The jacket was huge in circumference, though possibly a little short, but with armholes so low I can't lift my arms. The vest was very short, but very wide. We joked it was more a bra than a vest.
The vest was sent off for a remake immediately. I was told the jacket could be made much better with some alterations, which I was open to trying. This was my biggest mistake apparently.
The jacket came back a week or so later seemingly unchanged. I could fit both my fists between my chest and the the jacket, (though only with difficulty because moving my arms so high threatened to tear the armhole seams). Maybe someone outright forgot to send it out? That happens, right? There really didn't seem to be anything different with the jacket. The person helping me that day was very reluctant to alter it further, but eventually agreed.
The next time the jacket came I took it without trying it on because I had to get somewhere quickly and unexpectedly. Trying it on the next day, it was now far too tight at the top, but still weirdly loose at the bottom. It by no means looks like a tailored or custom suit, and I can't raise my arms. Not good at all.
I brought the jacket back in when the vest remake arrived, as I hadn't yet given up and wanted a remake. I was even planning on buying two new linen suits they now had available (my continued optimism at that point now feels embarrassingly naive.) They refused to do a remake on the grounds that their policy did not allow them to remake items which had gone in for alterations. If that's their policy, I was never made aware of it. If that's their policy it's also not one they stick to very well, as my housemate's suit was taken in for a remake after alterations had been done on it.
This left me very unhappy with Indochino. I wanted so much to like them, but I really just ended up getting screwed, especially as with deals on outright bespoke suits suddenly appearing in town.
Don't buy Indochino.
