The lowest priced shellac in the downtown core (without a Groupon). The salon is located to the left of the escalators in the basement of the Aura building. They have 2 units as both are pretty small. I was able to walk in without an appointment at noon. After waiting 5 minutes I was seen by a young lady who didn't introduce herself who was polite but didn't speak a lot of English. She didn't wash her hands before starting with my manicure which was concerning. She wiped all the tools with acetone just as I asked if they were clean but the nail file that she used wasn't new.
She asked if I wanted a rounded or square shape and I said rounded. What I didn't expect was when she proceeded to cut the sides of my nails to make the nails look rounder. Unfortunately she cut a little too deep and I was reminded for the next 2 days when I felt pain every time I grabbed something. The nails looked great when they were done but I wish she painted a bit closer to the cuticle. Two days later I already had 2 nails (middle and thumb) chipping and the most aggressive thing I didn't was open a box of batteries. I went back and they fixed it for me after a bit of negotiating. Again, my thumb was chipping the next day after getting fixed. I typically find I don't get any chips for at least a week so I was pretty disappointed that I had to go back a second time. The nails have lasted 1.5 weeks so far but due to the initial interactions, I would likely pay a little more for better quality somewhere else.
