| - As a born and raised Pittsburgher, it's astonishing that this was only my 2nd time visiting Monterey Bay. Monterey Bay is an old staple, and has been around for a long time, and it sometimes gets overlooked with all of the new and trendy restaurants in Pittsburgh now. It did not disappoint. Even though I live on Mt. Washington, there's something special about taking the elevator up to the restaurant while observing the city.
Dinner starts with a delicious selection of bread and a homemade butter. We started with the Kanpachi Seviche. I was shocked at how tasty it was, especially for someone who is a pretty picky seafood eater. One thing to note, this starter has a little kick to it with the jalapenos, but you can easily eat around those if you don't like them.
For my entree, I ordered the Brandied Shrimp Tagliatelle. Delicious sauce, pasta cooked perfectly, and more than enough shrimp. If this is your first visit, you must try their crab cakes as that's their specialty. I was lucky enough to have a taste of my fiance's.
In addition to delicious food, restaurants that provide top notch service always stand out. Our server, Jane, was amazing. The GM stopped at our table to make sure everything was okay, and that is much appreciated.
We shared the angel food grilled cheese dessert. Great way to end the meal. Must visit in Pittsburgh.
