I am originally from Charlotte and am heartbroken every time I visit as almost every trace of the "Old Charlotte" of my childhood has been disrespectfully erased. The Dunhill Hotel is a wonderful, elegant "Old School" small hotel build in the1920's, updated few years back. An affordable alternative to the cookie cutter chains, shady no-tell motels, and fussy Grand ma ma B&B's. Perfect location Uptown just off the Trade/Tryon Square. The staff are sincerely friendly and efficient. The bathrooms are heaven, great products, clinically clean, perfect water pressure and temp. There is a cozy lobby bar, but skip the room service and restaurant. I just stayed for the first time in the penthouse suite and it's the bomb! Parking is extra as all the uptown properties. Not on the cutting edge tech wise but TV/cable/internet are provided and work fine. The afternoon turndown service includes a imported chocolate treat, a charming tradition that I hope endures.
