  • Milk Bar has become synonymous with Foodie must-have while in any town that has one. Being a Vegas local, I have gotten several opportunities to make my way down to the Strip to stop here (and Momofuku, but that's another review in itself), both conveniently located withing Cosmopolitan. If you've seen Christina's episode on Netflix's 'Chef's Table,' you can't help BUT be excited to stop by and sample her genius and innovation! Firstly, the 'storefront.' This is NOT a sit-down restaurant, not is it like a cafe where you can place your order and hang out at a table. Think 'brick and mortar ice-cream truck. This, in my opinion, helps keep Milk Bar's philosophy of appearing approachable, not too pretentious despite the hype. You feel comfortable there in its casual-meets-foodie vibe. The food. OH GOD THE FOOD! I'll keep it brief. The Crack Pie defines itself, and it's accurate. The Compost Cookie is the best mix of flavors and textures, incorporating chew, crunch, and crisp with sweet, salty, coffee, etc. The Blueberry Cookie was a recent try that blew me away - so subtly sweet and soft, one was not enough. My personal favorite: The Birthday Truffles: Dense, moist, almost too sweet but dances along that line perfectly. I also chose to treat myself last birthday with their Birthday Truffle Birthday Cake: the cake itself was incredible, but because there is no frosting, anything past day one starts to dry out a bit. I personally was not a big fan of the 'truffles,' which I assumed were birthday truffles, but were more like hard (very hard) crumbles of the same material. It detracted from the birthday cake experience for me, but Milk Bar has so many more redeeming qualities that I couldn't justify removing a star for that. Finally, I recently got to try the soft serve cereal milk with the corn flake bits - mind blowing. It truly transported me to childhood breakfasts of frosted flakes. Again, the sheer innovation with these creations are enough to keep me coming back, but then you throw in the fact that it all tastes, looks, and balances incredibly well, and it's safe to say we all know why this is a must-have.
