  • OK so my friend and stylist moved to freaking Portland (But good for her!), so as a result my fiance and I have been looking kinda shabby. We've been really reluctant to try someone else because it's really scary to trust someone with your hair and face. I mean, that's some intimate stuff. I don't let just anyone file my feet and inspect my unibrow (disclaimer: I don't actually have a unibrow), but touching my hair is damn-near sacred. I feel so strongly about this because I had a lot of traumatic haircuts as a kid including straight across bangs, uneven edges, and as I got older I experienced bad perms (I grew up down south where looking like a poodle is still kinda popular in my small hometown), ridiculous highlights and some business-in-the-front-party-in-the-back but not really a mullet crap. Kids are mean, teenagers are meaner, and southern Baptist prayer moms (I still don't know what that is) who own salons can't be trusted. So yeah, serious trauma here. My fiance booked himself with Jamie for a haircut, and booked me with Kat for a pedicure and eyebrow wax. I took advantage of their Tuesday deal which is a wax or manicure with a pedi on them. I thought this was awfully convenient and a sign from the goddess of beauty (or something) that I should suck it up and TREAT MYSELF. I immediately felt at ease in the salon. The door was open, the inside temp was great, the lighting was great, the wall color is perfect and Kat and Jamie were welcoming. Kat offered beverages right away. I told her it was my first pedicure (yeah guys. You heard me) and she guided me the whole way. I got the spa pedi and have no regrets. Everything felt fantastic, and we chatted the entire time. It wasn't awkward or forced, and I'm very sensitive to awkward interactions with people. I cannot tell you how relieved I was to connect with someone helping me do some self care I really REALLY needed. After my pedi, she gave me the least painful and best damn brow wax I've ever had. I'm not one to brag about my appearance, but my eyebrows are fabulous naturally. They just get a little out of control. NOT ANYMORE. Kat might be my new favorite person in the universe because I know I can trust her with my brows, and I booked a mani and haircut for Friday. Oh yeah. I think I might have developed an expensive habit, so I probably need a job soon. Last but not least, Jamie deserves kudos too. My fiance is more vain and finicky about his hair than I am, and if you read the beginning of this review, you can only imagine, right? Yeah, this chick killed it. His hair looks fiiiiiine and professional, just like he prefers. I mean, I may have swooned a little when I saw him. I look forward to developing a strong relationship at this salon and taking advantage of their other services as well. If your on the fence, need a new place, whatever it is, go here. Just do it. And tell them Callie sent you. (Haha)
