  • I went here with a group on a Saturday night. I noticed that it had mixed reviews on yelp but I was invited by friends so I tried to keep an open mind. The first clue that I had that this meal was not going to be that good was the fact that at 7:30 pm on a weekend night, there were hardly any people in this restaurant. Other than our party, there were perhaps three other parties in the entire restaurant. Most restaurants in CLT are busy on Saturday nights at that hour. Basically the actual food does not live up to the menu. I had the Chicken Marsala, it was not good, very bland, green beans not cooked well, almost raw - I did like the cauliflower/potato puree. Overall, I felt I was eating a meal prepared for a senior citizen at nursing home who is on a restricted diet. It was just that bland and I left half on the plate and did not get a to go box. Others in our party had pasta, one was a special and it was sent back because the diner said it tasted like Chef Boyardee (her exact words), the other diner had linguine and hardly ate any of it. We also ordered a side of mac and cheese which was basically penne shells with very little cheese sauce on top, very bland and definitely not the traditional M&C. Both pasta dishes lacked sufficient sauce and seasoning. The only people who seemed to enjoy their meals were the ones who ordered flatbreads, burgers and the Bass. We got a side of Belgian Frites which were barely warm and nothing special. Another had the brussels sprouts as a side which I tried and they were dry and had no flavor. We had two appetizers, the deviled eggs and bacon wrapped tater tots. The tots were great, the eggs, bland, no seasoning and somewhat small. The bread pudding dessert was quite good and others liked the chocolate cake. In general, it feels like the chef does not taste what she/he is putting out, just churning out dishes with out much regard to the quality and flavor of the food. I gave it two stars since some dishes were a hit and the tots were good, even though my meal was not. With so many other restaurants to try in CLT, I can't see coming back here for dinner again. You only have one time to make a first impression and this place really missed the mark with me.
