| - Not all Coffee Beans and Tea Leaves are created equal. This is one of those less than stellar locations.
I was at this location recently while shopping at this mall. It does not look like any of their other locations that I have been to, which are actual stores with doors. This is just a spot constructed in an open spot in the mall. Nothing wrong with how this retail looks at all, just simply giving a brief observation as Captain Obvious.
Their menu is standardized with the other local Coffee Beans. On this particular visit I decided to try one of their new promotional Ice Blended Pomegranate drink while my friend ordered something else.
Our order was actually made rather quickly (bonus), but after a brief disoriented moment I realized the syrupy beverage on the rocks was not what I ordered, I told the barista of the mistake. To make life easier, I told her to just blend the whole thing in the blender and serve it to me. The middle age white lady insisted that it would not taste right and insisted on adding ice (a lot) and blended with what she originally served me. So when she was done pouring the new finished product in my cup, there was still enough to fill another 6 oz container, and the drink by now is so diluted it barely has any flavor. It was like drinking a color sugary slushy. If Kool Aid has a Pomegranate Red flavor packet, and you blend half of that with 24 oz worth of ice, that be close to what that barista thought was acceptable (in all of her probably 2 weeks of on the job barista experience) to serve me. My friend's drink was made correctly, she didn't have a complaint with her, but as a barista herself, said that the lady should have just made another one correctly from scratch.
So yeah, in spite of my decades long love and adoration for Coffee Beans and Tea Leaf, this location gets a one lone Yelp star for poor staff training and lack of employee's ability to adequately fix a mistake (mistakes happens and is acceptable) and serve up a properly made drink according to their standardized recipe.
The one star you see is actually a minus four. Minus 0.5 star for messing up the order in the first place. Minus another 4 stars for making more mistakes and thinking it was okay to serve it anyway. Rounding the half star to a full star, since as you know that option is and will never be available.
