I don't go out to eat too often unless I'm out of town, so I really wanted to like this place. But I was left fairly disappointed.
After trying quite a few of the hot dishes, I ended up enjoying a few of them. The lamb chops filled the air with an incredible aroma, and tasted just as good. The lomo con romesco was cooked perfectly, and the pickled red onion was a very nice contrast to the taste of the pork. The roast quail was also pretty decent.
The flip side to the food was the portion to price ratio. I expected small portions, but honestly? At least give your customers some bread to mop up the leftover sauces (plenty), and a chance to get full. Oh well, I guess thats what the pizza places are for afterwards, right?
There's also probably a reason why they give out free pitchers of sangria (sign up for their emailing list) - it tasted remarkably like your generic store-bought sangria. At least add in some fruit maybe? The caipirinha I ordered from the bar was also not as tasty nor as potent as I would have liked.
All in all, I could be persuaded to re-visit Iruna, but it would only be for happy hour.
PS the service was great. Kudos to them for that!
