| - What a great hidden gem on the outskirts of Pittsburgh. Narcisi Winery features a winery and a restaurant that serves up absolutely delicious Italian food with indoor and outdoor seating making it a great place to spend the day lounging around drinking delicious wine in a laid back atmosphere.
Upon entering, you'll come across their sample bar that allows you to taste their wines made on site. 2 tastings are complimentary, and you can pay $5 for a few more samples after that. I highly recommend sampling their Peach wine, which Narcisi takes great pride in. It's hands down one of the best wines I've ever tasted, and it's not heavy or syrupy at all. I also recommend sampling the Sangria, Gewurtztraminer, and of course their Reiseling. They also serve up wine slushies, so be sure to ask what they have on rotation that day.
As for the food, oh man, some of the best Italian food I've ever had. They start you off with fresh baked bread and a roasted red pepper olive oil dip that is out of this world. You can purchase a bottle from the servers for $13. It's definitely worth it and you'll understand once you try it. Their appetizers are plentiful and are definitely easy to share, as are their pizzas. The goat cheese pomodoro appetizer was insanely good, I didn't want it to end. Their calamari is always very good, lightly breaded and fried and cooked perfectly. I've had the Pasta Sophia and Pasta Lulu, both are incredible and always perfectly cooked al dente. I honestly can't say enough good things about the food, I've visited numerous times and the food has never left me disappointed in the slightest. Also, if you're ordering wine during your meal, opt for the bottle instead of a single glass since they let you take home whatever you don't finish.
On the weekends, Narcisi Winery also gives tours of their wine making process followed by a sampling of 5 wines and you get to keep the Narcisi wine glass as a little memento. For $20, it's definitely worth it and our tour was given by the owner of Narcisi Winery.
Service has always been friendly and prompt, though it can get busy on the weekends during lunch and dinner, especially when the weather is nice. Narcisi Winery, especially their food, holds a special place in my heart and I'll continue to come back as often as possible.
