Only twice hv I had the luck of having either the owner or a pro sushi chef serve me here.
Last night we ate there to celebrate a special birthday. I mentioned to the waiter twice about it thinking maybe an acknowledgement by the establishment would bring a cheer or a candle on one of the birthday boy's sushi. Nada.
Fortunately the jittery waiter seemed eager to please which diffused chuckles around the table.
Our birthday boy ordered the Sushi & Assorted Sashimi dinner which the waiter mistakenly ordered the Assorted Sashimi Dinner only. Two ordered the Tekka Don which tuna sashimi was cut very very thinly on top of mounds of rice. How can you taste the fishiness with it being so paper thin? We could see the rice through the sashimi!!!
No pro sushi or experienced Japanese cuisine chef there last night. Many foreign "workers" behind the sushi bar...sure they will verbally welcome you and thank you for being patrons which is a fun thing BUT if you're paying $$$, not $$, you should expect what you pay for, right? A well run sushi bar doesn't need ten+ guys. That's where my full slices of Tekka Don tuna went...to their paychecks and not to my tummy.
Granted, the mounds of quality sushi rice was perfectly cooked and prepared but we didn't go there just for the rice! We had a birthday boy and a visiting sister from Seattle...how disappointing. Zannen zannen!
Hopefully Ru-San will read this and re-evaluate. Please take this seriously for your business' sake.
