| - I will not be returning to this location for any more nail services. I cannot speak for any other services they do, but I can for nails.
I give places, especially nail salons, more than one chance. I am newer to the area so I've been trying to find a place. This last time was my 3rd try and it's just not happening. I understand that there are different employees who do different work, so this is why I try more than once just incase. But it seems that all their employees are sub-par.
The first time I went, my gel manicure was done by someone BRAND NEW, still in training. This made me feel shaky about it. Though it was an ok-ish job, my nails were un-even in length and shape. Plus the owner talked to us the ENTIRE time which is not why I went. I went for relaxing, not chatting. She was super nice, just...too much.
So I decided to try again...someone not brand new. I went in again wanting acrylics instead because gel just was not working for me. The girl, Christine, was super rough. This may be ok with some people, but not myself. I have sensitive nails and hands. She also put something on my nails prior to putting on the acrylic that just BURNED! I've never had anything like this before. But I shrugged it off. She went to glue on the first nail, missed and got glue all over my hand. SLIGHTLY tried to clean it up but barely did...so it was stuck on my hand for days. She did a good job at painting the nails, but the length and shape again was uneven. Some nails were MUCH longer than others.
This third trip was the doozy that did me in. I went in asking for a design which seemed logical because there are many pictures on here for designs that look GREAT and seem as though they can do this. WRONG-O! Do not go in expecting this, the photos are a lie. Anyways, first off, I told the receptionist exactly what I wanted...to shorten my nails, fill and to change the shape. I showed my design and there was nothing of concern. I was sat with a gentlemen who I could hardly understand, and have no idea his name as I was never given it. He just started working without asking what I wanted, so I presumed the girl explained what I was looking for. He first took my previous color off, but not so good. Some got left on which then the acrylic was put on top of for my fill, so it's still there and looks AWFUL! He also put on this same burning stuff which was worse this time. I have no idea what it is but clearly potent chemicals! Doesn't seem safe and highly unnecessary! Then...the fill itself was no good. You can still see the line from where my nails were before from the outgrowth. I've only had this happen from bad fills. When I've had good fills back home, this was not EVER an issue. The others kept asking later on if he did a good fill, and they kept saying he did. These are clearly their terrible standards. Then, he seemed SUPER reluctant to shorten them. I had to keep asking shorter and shorter. I told him 3x I wanted a round shape, which was different because I had something different coming in. It didn't matter...he just went with doing a sharp square shape (different than what I had). Though his length and shaping was done well, its not what I asked for. I did not correct him because...there just was no point! Then I was told to get my color...I explained I was looking for a design. He asked to see it and got upset and said he definitely could not do what I was wanting. I was mad. I told the girl what I wanted...she shouldn't have sat me with someone who could not! So I was moved to someone else. Though the design was appreciated and she worked hard on it, (it's why I still tipped her) it was not satisfactory. It was cheaply done for one, and she put some really weird top coat on WAY too soon and smeared the colors, so my colors are smeared on my nails which is very noticeable. And when a mistake was made, instead of redoing it, she just kind of went over it sloppily to make it worse. Then she put some other top coat on, which the combo of the 2 was terrible. It was a rough and bumpy top coat that felt awful! I thought maybe it would change...like as it got less tacky. No. Later that night, I put on my top coat so my nails would be smooth. I went home from that appointment beyond pissed and it ruined my entire day. I've never had such a mess for nails, and I've had some bad jobs. Bad fill, terrible communication, not paying attention to guest wants, not taking polish off correctly, not doing proper color application/top coat application, and then using terrible products. Absolute waste of $40!
Overall...I'm just done with Wink and Polish and I'm off to search again! Still trying to find a decent nail salon in this city. Does it exist!?
