Okay boys and girls here we go again on another episode of Fred tries local BBQ.
This week it was Joe's Real BBQ in Gilbert. I have lived in the Gilbert Area now for about 3 years and I frequent Downtown, mainly for Joyride Tacos.
I was hankering for some BBQ and didn't feel like driving to my usual spot in Tempe so I decided to give Joe's a shot. Disappointment ensued.
Having never been before I got the BBQ sample late with some cheesy potatoes.
It comes with ribs, chicken, brisket and pulled pork. The ribs were fairly decent. Everything else was very very dry. I understand that things happen when cooking or that not everything comes out perfectly, but when 3 out of the 4 things I had were to dry, there is an issue. Especially when they are dry at 1PM during the lunch rush, when everything should be totally fresh.
The BBQ sauce itself isn't too shabby. Sweet with some tang so overall can't complain there.
But. Decent BBQ sauce and Okay ribs are not enough to make me return. Do yourself a favor and head over to Rudy's BBQ in Chandler and enjoy much better food for the same price.
