  • Brasserie V is a staple in the Monroe street area. It's been around for a while (at least 8 years? Don't quote me on that) and there are a few great constants. 1) Their beer selection. Wowza, this makes me want to come here in and of itself. They have a good size tap list with beers I've never even heard of from places like Spain and Denmark and much more. You can order 4.5 oz glasses as well as a full pint of the on tap stuff so you can try more than one easily. Haven't been disappointed yet with any beers I've tried! They also have an extensive selection of bottled beers if none of the taps strike your fancy. 2) Their food. Now, I'd come here for point 1 alone, but what makes this place even better is the food! It's not standard "bar food," it's better. Their moules and frites are my favorite choice always (mussels and fries for the uninitiated). Their tender, PEI mussels always taste fresh and perfect, with some nice frites and aioli to top it off. I would say I've tried other entrees... But I don't think I have. It's that good. I had a great tomato basil soup last night though! And my friends like the burger. 3) The ambiance. Lots of wood, and a nice warm vibe. Service is good, and the bartenders are very knowledgeable. I'd take a date here! It can be hard to park depending on the day and time, and sometimes the meals can be a little pricey, but overall a great place to have dinner with friends!
