| - UPDATE (4/19/18): This store seems to really have taken steps to better their environment! I was there last week, and the smell was gone. It smells the same as any other thrift store now (actually better than some). The staff was friendlier than previous visits, and I got a much better vibe. They've also really reorganized their goods. The aisles are clear now and I can tell that someone, or many someones, is really making an effort to keep the store looking better cared for. I have increased the star rating to 3 stars, instead of 2. Keep up the good work, Value Village.
Original review:
I'm torn about how I feel about this thrift store. It was in a not-great part of Glendale, and I actually hesitated about going inside. The interior was....disgusting. It reeked of dirty clothes and was a total turnoff. I'm an avid thrifter, so I don't expect it to smell like Bloomingdale's or anything. But this was honestly the smelliest place I've been. Here is why I am torn. I *did* get some amazing deals on non-clothing items (I couldn't make myself paw through the stinky, mixed-sizes racks of clothing). I got an awesome backpack that is made of mesh that I use as a bag to go to the pool. I also got some cosmetic travel cases that I have wanted for a long time. But the staff was not interested in answering questions (club card, color sales, etc), and quite unfriendly. I'd say if you're up for an adventure, go for it; you really never know what you'll find. Just dont try to ask questions, and maybe wear noseplugs.
