| - My best friend and I spent so much time at The Mirage on last year's trip to Vegas, so we figured we'd actually stay there this year.
I forgot to request early check-in, but we had no problem checking in at noon, which was fantastic. The room was average sized, but beautiful -- much nicer than last year's stay at the Flamingo. The bed was to die for. There are few beds that compare to my childhood bed at home and this is one of them. My one complaint about the rooms is that the lighting isn't that great. You need to turn on every light in the room to really be able to see much.
The pool, restaurants and bars are fantastic. The pool was large and full of people in their 20's and 30's, which was great for us. One of the best parts of the hotel may be Blizz, which I will review separately. We weren't a fan of Jet last year, so we skipped it this year, but we still loved King Ink for a more laid back evening.
Biggest downfall: the gym, or rather, "Cardio Room" is pretty small. Well, I shouldn't say that because there were more than enough treadmills, bikes, etc., but I was a little disappointed that there were no weight machines or even free weights. Normally this wouldn't bother me since I'm a cardio feen, but I'm actually doing weight training as a part of my marathon training so 4 days without it was a downer.
As for the casino...I don't go to Vegas to gamble, but I did lose $15 in about 7 seconds in a craps game. Was the first and (probably) last time I'll ever play. Also saw Ray Romano playing on that same table about 9 hours earlier. Spent 5-10 minutes creeping and sneaking pictures of him from far away. I truly wished I was wasted so I would've had no problem asking him for a picture. Damn my day-soberness.
Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone given the quality, price and excellent location.
