| - For hubby and I the concept of AYCE buffets doesn't really rank top on our list as we rarely can even squeak in even a 2.5 plate meal together, but having always frequented The Wynn Resort, we gave //The Buffet// a shot tonite.
We knew we this meal would likely be our 'only' meal of the day so after a morning Starbucks for brekkie, an early dinner at 4pm would give us a solid 5-6 hours to digest the whole experience. Fortunately at this time of the day there was a zero wait in getting seated as opposed to the 45 min-hour upon our departure.
Seafood begins and ends with the crab which I believe is zuwaigani aka snow crab legs and the common other place filler cocktail shrimp. It would've been better if streaming was available but the crabmeat was sweet and delectable nonetheless.
I enjoyed the individualized salad cups prepared nicely for smaller portion eaters as ourselves. Oh what a difference a single perfect fillet of sardine on topmcan do for me! But in addition to that, the self serve salad bar had some of the most sweetest & crispest romaine lettuce I've tasted to date, very reminiscent of some of the best farmers markets I've tried in the Bay Area.
I wasn't a huge carbs consumer so only merely dabbled in some pasta selections which really equated to one square of finely made lobster ravioli, a tablespoon of the butternut squash risotto and in other cuisines I also enjoyed a pork belly bun Chinese style, single gyoza and an unagi nigiri. All not bad for mass produced line cooking.
Well if that seems not enuf bang for the buck, I then concentrated my efforts on the smoked salmon, veal and enjoyed a tender medium sliver of roast beef, not the best I've have as lacked seasoning even accompanied with au jus.
Major highlight to me was the array of cured meats namely salamis and prosciutto, the latter being my late nite snacking vice of choice. Pair those with not so bad quality cheese offerings and housemade well oiled olives it was a solid 3 stars even before the dessert run started.
The fourth star alone was the custom crepe counter, quick trips to Harajuku came to mind as hubby satisfied himself with a simple almond encrusted chocolate saucy sensation!
I didn't find it overpriced as the effort alone to produce such a spread oneself undoubtedly makes the check negligible IMHO.
