I wish I could give it 0 stars! This is the WORST hospital I've ever stepped foot in! My boyfriend was badly burned by fire on his face, neck, both hands and arms and we rushed to the nearest hospital which was unfortunately here! He was moaning in pain as he ran in. I was behind him and when I stepped in I looked at the check in desk and no one was there. A couple minutes passed and someone in scrubs came out of the back and asked us what happened. I told her he was badly burned and needed help immediately. They asked for his name and bday and took him behind the counter to weigh him take his blood pressure and heart rate. All the while he is jumping around like a mad man in extreme pain. Another woman behind the counter took a couple more minutes typing his info and we were sent to the back private area to be seen. 10 minted passes by and one man pops in and asks what happened. We explained again. He said "oh that doesn't look so bad, I was burned like that once in high school" then he quickly disappeared. 10 minutes later another woman comes in rolling a computer and asks us what happened. We explained again! She clearly sees him in pain and she says "oh I'm sorry I just want to place his whole body in an ice bath" (wtf) I replied "how about just give him something for pain and tell us how bad the burns are" she said "I don't know if that will really help though" At this point I knew we were dealing with incompetent staff and very worried. But that's not it! After another 10 minutes of him jumping up and down and me blowing on his burning skin while its peeling and bubbling waiting for someone to give him something for the burning pain she informs us that we will have to go back to the waiting area because she is very busy and has to see more patients. ????? Lady you haven't even seen us yet! She said another nurse is getting his IV ready and she will pull us out of the waiting room when she's ready. As she walks us back to the waiting room she tells my boyfriend to do everything he can to feel comfortable. I'm sorry isn't that your job!?!?! I was floored by this time! Another 10 minutes in the waiting room and I was over it! I asked a person in scrubs can you please help him and get someone to do something obviously he's in pain! He tells me I'm sorry we have a lot of patients and there's only one nurse to take care of everyone. What kind of hospital has one nurse for the emergency room?!?!? I wasn't the only one shaking my head in disbelief. There was a man in the visiting area who took a look at my boyfriend and saw how he was being neglected and within 5 min of talking with him about what happened he gave me the number to the burn center at UMC. I called immediately and we booked it out of that death trap aka Spring Valley! It was a complete turn around at UMC! We were directed by security to the check in desk, within seconds my boyfriend was in a wheelchair and transported to the trauma center! 2nd degree burns!! Seems like serious burns to me! He was given a tetanus shot, pain meds, and was treated with care! Everyone was so kind and helpful! Felt like a real hospital! I will NEVER EVER EVER EVER step foot in Spring Valley AGAIN!
