  • Oh em gee - this place is AMAZING! Velvet Tango Room is definitely one of Cleveland's best little gems and I highly suggest that you experience this bar for yourself! Now don't be scared off by the exterior of the building (although I can say that I was a little skeptical on my first visit) but it only just adds to the allure and mysteriousness of VTR. Once inside you are immediately taken back to a cool speakeasy with the light (LIVE!) jazz music and sexy decor. You'll get sucked in and be intrigued to discover more. I will say that VTR gets very packed and it's often times hard to find seating, but the wait for a place at the bar, a table, or even better (in my opinion) on the couches, is well worth it. Once settled, you will be left to explore the extensive menu. My advice is to really take your time to study the drink options, as there are many and majority of them unfamiliar. And don't be afraid to try something totally bizarre and off the wall sounding - you'll be pleasantly surprised! My two favorite are the royal fizz (made with fresh, raw eggs - yes I'm being serious) and the moscow mule made with ginger beer and served in a copper mug. The drinks are pricey ($15 a piece), but TOTALLY worth every penny. It's not everyday that you get to try drinks that take such art and talent to concoct. And if that doesn't sell you, then maybe this will - my boyfriend and I were in Chicago in December for my birthday and went to a VTR-type bar and all of the bartenders were WELL familiar with VTR. So, now when are you planning on checking this place out??
