My trip to La Cave du Vin is thanks to a article on the top 100 beer bars in the US (http://draftmag.com/features/americas-100-best-beer-bars-2012/)
Being somewhat close to home and what seemed like an amazing atmosphere my husband and I knew it would be our Saturday night stop after dinner and a day of touring new spots in Cleveland. We ended up arriving earlier than expected which was actually 3 minutes after opening. I'm never one to be there so quick after opening but it turned out to be a blessing. We got the bartenders full attention for the next 3 hours where we were the only customers.
Beer: Great selection but this is more a bottle selection than draft. There draft selection does have good options (loved the porter) but I believe only 5 options. bottles were a wide range but also most were pretty pricey.
Menu: The beer cheese plate was wonderful. 4 different cheeses and a very generous portion.
Atmosphere: Loved it. It's dark and kind of sexy with the candlelight and red lighting. Bar seating was comfortable and there was also plenty of seating throughout.
Why the -1 star: Price, lack of drafts.
