  • We had a terrific lunch on a Wednesday. We walked in about 12:30 pm and the place was jumping. Only one table empty and they were a little bit in the weeds so it took a little while to get our server to come back and take our order. He apologized for the slower than normal service, luckily we were not in any kind of hurry and we didn't mind. My better half ordered the lunch special jalapeño fried rice with added Chinese sausage and the soup of the day which was chicken cucumber. To keep it on the lighter side I ordered the Drunken Dragon wraps. The server was right on the money regarding the level of heat on a 1 to 5 scale. We told him we liked it hot and he said a 3 will make your head sweat. He was right, it was the perfect amount of heat. The chicken cucumber soup had a flavor that I can't really describe, it tasted very authentic, was very light and probably had some fish sauce. It was a small cup for the lunch special and had two or three large chunks of chicken and about eight or 10 small chunks of cucumber in the broth. The soup came out piping hot - scalding actually, you're not going to get sick from lukewarm soup at this place! The jalapeño fried rice with the Chinese sausage was perfectly balanced. The rice was tender, the jalapeño was not overpowering in terms of the number of pieces or heat level, and the Chinese sausage slices were well charred and defatted so that it did not have that cold salami type of texture - they were actually crispy and browned nicely. The Drunken Dragon Wraps was a welcome change from the usual Larb flavor profile which for me usually has too much lime and not enough other flavor. The chicken was tender and paired well with the very mild amount of curry and small amount of coconut milk added to it. Some cilantro and peanut garnishes which were served on the side or a nice touch. Next time we are in town we will definitely return!
