| - Working at Chase Field it's easy to get sick of places in the neighborhood. there's not a big selection. Coach and Willie are just the other side of the tracks and we've all eaten there a lot. I can't rave about it... but not gonna bash it either.
Today went with two vendors who hadn't eaten there yet. we got a very pleasant surprise when Dani (sp?) came to our table, sat down, and asked us if we needed help picking something (menu is imposingly large). she was funny, helpful, and talked them through everything. they settled on the Tequila Lime Chicken Wrap and the Bourbon Steak Wrap. Bourbon Steak Wrap ordered a side of Lobster Bisque. I went for the daily special Fried chicken over potatoes.
Food came pretty quickly. I'll get the Fried Chicken special out of the way right now. It was fried chicken, but it was NOT special. It was better than KFC but that's about it. the potatoes were barely warm. the gravy was forgettable. bad choice on my part when Mrs White's is barely three blocks away, but come on guys, at least wave the food over the heat a little bit.
My dining companions both raved about their choices. Tequila Lime
Chicken was reported as "very tasty". He ate half and boxed up the rest for the trip home. Bourbon Steak Wrap was described as "a little too sweet" but all in all enjoyable, also boxed up and taken home. Lobster Bisque was reported to be lip smackin good, though I tried it once and thought it was a little Campbell's-esque.
This is a nice place, dark, lots of sports on TV, It fills a niche in this neighborhood that Cooperstown deserted long ago and Friday's Front Row never occupied... that is, decent pub fare for pregame/postgame. The menu may be hit or miss but there's lots of choices and most people won't be disappointed.
