| - Having read and heard such great things about this place, i had to come try (apparently, i am on some kind of unofficial quest to find the best coffee in toronto). First of all, the place is very, very hipster. The sign outside had some joke about no hipsters, and then something about hamsters (?).. but when you walk inside, they're all hipsters. Anyway, when I ordered a latte, they guy told me there were 3 options in terms of coffee beans -- i asked him to recommend one, and he seemed genuinely caught off guard (i wonder why, people must ask him that all the time). I ended up choosing the ethiopian blend/beans. The coffee was good -- not AMAZING, but it was good. I liked the flavour of the espresso, but it wasn't strong enough. I felt like it needed another shot of espresso. I still like moonbean in Kensington better.
What I didn't like was that my partner got a regular coffee. He added milk, and we were on our way. A while later, he had some of the coffee and said it tasted off. I tried it, and the milk was totally sour. We didn't go back to get it replaced since we'd already left and were a few blocks away.. but as a coffee place, shouldn't they be more careful about leaving their milk and cream sitting out? Pretty disappointing.
I'd come back if i were in the area, but if i were to go out of my way for good coffee, i'd still hit up moonbean.
