| - I do all of my everyday grocery shopping at Woodman's. It's cheaper than the alternatives and has a staggering array of products. Slightly obscure vegetarian meat substitutes? Check. Emperador cookies so I don't have to make a special trip to the Mexican store? Check.
Still, there are a few things going on here that stop me from giving it five stars. First, parking is a ZOO. It's like there's an invisible fence around the perimeter that temporarily renders the part of your brain that knows the rules of the road non-operational. The store is often crowded, especially in the produce section, and it's tough to move around, although I'm often trying to negotiate it with a stroller.
The produce isn't always great, and it doesn't always last in the fridge, but if you're going to use it quickly, it's a really good buy.
I think they cut corners on staffing a bit, because it's hard to get a lane with a human checker and not wait a long time, and finding help on the sales floor is a challenge. But I guess that's the tradeoff. You can't get pretty and well staffed and cheap. Something has to give. Once you learn your way around the store, which is positively enormous, you can generally manage.
My final nitpick is that they seem to be out of random stuff sometimes, like only one flavor of a brand of salsa. Prairie Farms yogurts are perpetually in short supply.
Honestly, though, whatever. They have everything I need, everything I don't need, and it's cheap. I can deal with parking and no frills for that. It's still my go-to store.
