| - This place is sometimes decent at best. The crowd in here is very hit and miss (often miss), which really makes or breaks the night considering this bar doesn't have much else going for it. This bar, along with some of the "nu-mainstream" other bars on the Ossington strip carry the annoying Toronto stereo-type of Torontonians being conservative and boring. The number of times I've gone this bar, the all-too-common atmosphere of people looking around the bar to find other people having a good time, in order for them to feel comfortable letting loose, is the norm. The problem is, when you have everyone in the bar kind of just standing and looking around, throwing in an awkward, forced dance move every once in a while, it doesn't exactly make for a revelrous atmosphere.
The front room is decent, but nothing to write home about. The hall to get to the back room, the back room, and the bar in the back room have an extremely awkward layout. The back room is far too dark, defeating the purpose of going to a bar like that in the first place (to meet people). The area around the back room's bar is very narrow, and makes it really annoying to get from one room to the other given that people have a propensity to hang around the bar.
The music here is also very hit and miss because it depends on the DJ.
The beer selection is nothing special.
Also, I found the door man to be quite rude. I've been to many night clubs in my day, and I've seen the calibre of drunken idiots show up nightclubs' doors, so I understand that it is a difficult job (especially when it's freezing cold), but this person's attitude was unacceptable (re: power tripping, and treating the patrons like cattle).
This place isn't horrible, but I certainly wouldn't go back here on my own accord.
