Tuck into the corner the courtyard with Hy's and 3Brewers at Adelaide and University, this place is a chain from Vancouver that recently launched in Toronto. For a coffee shop in the core Financial District, there's a lot of seating here. There are some bar stools right inside the shop, some outside on the patio and a lot of couches and tables outside the entrance to JJ Bean, but inside the lobby of the 130 Adelaide building. Everything is slick and modernly decorated.
The pastries on display looked really yummy, until I saw the prices. $3.90 for an almond croissant? No thanks.
Coffee drinks were pretty standard downtown prices - approx. $4-$4.5 for a medium latte before tax.
For all your lactose intolerant people, they don't have lactose-free milk. There's only almond milk and soy milk. I tried the almond latte, but it's just not the same as lactose-free milk. The almond flavour is so strong, it basically masks all the coffee flavour.
It's cute and pretty here, but I don't see why I wouldn't just go to a Starbucks instead.
