  • So you've got friends/family coming to Markham and you've got to ask yourself that burning question, "where do I take people who come to MARKHAM?". I guess you can go shopping at T&T. Or explore all the the excitement that suburbia has to offer. So fun. Well if they're not old, injured, pregnant, or boring, you can take them to the Hub. The Hub is an extremely unique place for a couple hours of fun and to tire out any kids. Its main offering is rock climbing, specifically bouldering, which is rope-less climbing. The walls are divided into sections and the rocks are divided into colours that create a climbing "path" at varying difficulties. There are a few areas that let you "top up" or climb over the top and then slide/take the stairs down. The rocks are rearranged once in awhile to allow for a fresh experience. The Hub's claim to fame is the massive structure called The Dragon. It's got twists and turns and nearly reaches the ceiling. Below is a giant foam pit which is really comfy to fall into, but I've only tried dropping from 2 ft. Not for lack of trying. I've only seen two people climb to the top, a muscular guy that looks like he climbs mountains as a career and a 12 year old girl. There is also a section for roped climbing and another area for gym equipment. From what I understand, the Hub is a real gym that includes yoga classes and annual memberships so you can get your bulk on while slowly becoming a monkey. The people that work there are exactly the type of people you'd expect to work at a place like this: young, fit, friendly. If it's not offered, ask for an orientation on how to fall safely and they'll be more than happy to accommodate. The dangers of falling from high places, detached from anything, is very real, even if there is a mat. Now you don't have to dread the question, "so....what are we gonna do?" when in Markham. About $20 will give you 2 hours of exhausting entertainment. You actually get an all-day pass but usually you're lying on the mat and breathing heavily by 90 mins. So bonus, not only is the Hub tons of fun, you can use it to supplement your gym day! (47/100) - 2017
