| - A Pittsburgh experience wouldn't be complete without a trip to one of the Big Burrito restaurants, so I chose supposedly the best of the many, Eleven on the Strip District. Quite a posh eatery with high ceilings and elegant decor.
We came here for Sunday brunch, which they had a prix fixe menu for $25 (appetizer, entree, and a drink). We started our meal with complimentary baked goods like croissants and muffins that came with a side of homemade marmalade (roasted pineapple with lime). Yummmm! Then unlike most prix fixe menus, this menu had many options to choose from. For appetizers, they had items like oysters, truffled egg toast, serrano ham, shrimp salad, crab cakes, etc. I got the crab cake that was alright (I've had better). For entree, there were choices like lobster roll, vanilla bean belgian waffle, lobster & caviar omelet, and even shrimp pasta. I got the lobster & caviar open-faced omelet with mascarpone. Interesting concept and nicely prepared. For brunch of this calibre, $25 was a bargain.
