Diamond Taxi: A few nights ago my close friend got into a cab, leaving from my apartment going to her place - that's when the nightmare began. The cab driver kept trying to have her touch him the entire ride, (grab my hand, give me a high five, see my shoulders are so built touch them! etc) She was very uncomfortable, clearly, and kept her distance.
She then decided it would be a good idea to call me and pretend I was her husband, loudly, so he would stop talking to her - which he did for a few minutes. When they arrived at their destination, he refused to stop driving, and slowly cruised around, telling her she needed to pay him before he took her to her door. She tried using her debit card - to no avail. Tried again, while still on the phone with me - connection error, timed out. The driver then insisted she go to the bank, and that he would drive her. She said she was uncomfortable with it and wanted to go inside, and that maybe her husband (who was at work, unfortunately) might have cash. he refused and started to drive her to the bank (against her will). They then drove around for about 10 minutes looking for an ATM (this was 1am or so, and she was terrified as he drove her through seedy areas in strip malls looking for an ATM).
When she finally got cash out he followed her to the ATM and told her he would take her home. Upon arriving home, it turns out he had charged her for the trip TO THE BANK as well, and wanted more money than she had taken out!She ended up just throwing two twenty dollar bills at him and ran to the door.
SINCE: She had received a debit statement from her bank that she HAD infact been charged TWICE for the cab ride ON TOP of him taking 40$ in cash from her. She's terrified, with anxiety issues, and didn't want to report this to anyone. I've tried to contact Diamond taxi - who is refusing to contact me back. Stating that there is no manager available during the day (not sure how that's possible in a big company like that) and my next step is the police, but I dont really want to drag her into all of that.
Please AVOID this company, the drivers are sleazy as fuck!
The driver's cab number was 2417 tariff a. And, driver, if you're reading this - we're going to do everything we can to get you either fired or brought up on charges or both.
