| - I am so drawn to the aesthetics of Bobbette & Belle that I am tempted to move in (desk in the front, bed in the back, easy access to trays of baked goods always: I HAS PLANZ). The store is white, and clean, and modern, and inviting, and cute-but-not-cutesy; a place that draws you from the cement of Queen Street into bakery nirvana.
Bobbette & Belle is the perfect place for parents to sit with a spread of macarons - baby between them - and build up sugar stores of energy for an afternoon at the park. Perfect also for birthday parties, for groups of friends getting together or, as in my case: for a gal wanting an afternoon n0m on something sweet.
I'm not big on cupcakes, but the ones on offer looked delicious. Bobbette & Belle definitely scores high for aesthetics.
I went straight for...the whoopie pies. Although slightly pricey, I didn't resent the cost at all as soon as I bit in. Vanilla raspberry with real berries in the filling, this was the whoopie pie of my dreams: great texture to the moist cakey layers, and deliciously whipped - not overly sweet - filling (considering there was a lot, I appreciated the conservative use of sugar, especially as that let the natural berry taste shine through).
The coffee was good and strong, and my Mom was pleased with her shortbread-dulce-de-leche-coconut-ish sandwich cookie (details here are sparse; I was focused on mah whoppie pie!).
Yelp note: the store also has beautifully packaged product for a quick grab-and-go. Just saying, friends reading this: if I were hosting an event, I would love some marshmallows or meringues from Bobbette & Belle as a hostess gift (promise to share!)
