My brother in law recommended this place so my husband and I decided to give it a try. And we are so glad we did! It was a different twist from the original flavors you find around LA. Their wonton's were especially flavorful! They added a bit of sesame seeds in them to give it that flavor. Would not have imagined wonton's ever with sesame seeds nor did we ever think works well in a wonton, but it did. Their noodles are a bit different from the traditional (darker yellow and curlier) type noodles. They are lighter and more vermicelli-like but surprisingly still el dante in texture which makes up for it. I prefer the traditional way on this one, so depending on your taste buds you may or may not prefer the noodles. The soup is also different (not your traditional or as genuine). Basically, a different twist in flavors (more from my home town then my husbands) but still good. Generally, I would give the wontons a 9/10, the noodles/soup a 7/10, giving the dish an 8/10.
We got the duck and bbq pork with rice too. They were yummy too especially the sauce they put on the rice! Note that its probably made with the duck fat so it would be cholesterol up the ying-yang but so yummy.
The curry fish balls and pork ear cartilage were yummy too. Perfectly seasoned!
Ambiance:
Its in Chinatown, a mom and pop. Don't expect it to be fancy and if you can not stand a whole duck with the head and all and other meats hanging around, then you may not want to eat here. Take it to go or face the other way if possible.
Price:
Fair. Although portion are not the biggest which can make it a bit costly if you want to look it that way. We ordered 3 items for the 2 of us. So go figure.
