| - Really more of a 3 star, but an extra star for service
It's your typical Aloft. If you're familiar with the SPG, now Marriott portfolio, think a cheaper version of the W that is geared toward millennials.
Pro's:
+ Staff- The front desk staff is always friendly and helpful.
+ Location- Located right next to a business complex, so you may have the option to walk right across the street to your place of work.
+Wifi - It's free
+ Shuttle - If you don't have a car, there is a free shuttle that will take to the local businesses within the area. Just verify what the mile range is.
+Thursday Events - They host live events, weither it be a local band or they even had a yoga class during one of my stays where a local yoga studio came in to practice in the outdoor area.
+ Decent small gym
+ Lobby area was small, but offered a large pool table, some seating area to enjoy your meal/drink or meet up with coworkers, as well as the XYZ bar
+Shower - Extremely tall height
+Electrical plugs - plenty available with some available by the bed side, as well as a power block on the desk
+ Make a green choice was offered where you could either get points or a $5 credit for a drink/food item for each day you chose not to have service
Con's
- Design Room- overall , the room reminds me of a college dorm with the locker type area in the bathroom. A major pet peeve of mine is the stand alone shower, there needs to be a ledge towards the bottom to prob ones foot up on to help with shaving like in other hotels
Design overall - Aesthetically, it really looks like they tried too hard and that they crammed together a punch of crap they thought would be neat to appeal to their target audience, which I fall into. It just seems somewhat cheesy.
-Location - You are located next to a business complex. There are no restaurants within a quick walking distance, so you will need to drive to get food.
- Noise - Noise travels. The walls are thin.
- Wifi - It's free, so at times there was some lags and dropping of service
-Bed - for me personally, the bed was to hard and not the most comfortable
Tips:
* Similar to European hotels, you will need a key for the lights
* You can chose to use your phone for your key at this location via currently the SPG app and bluetooth
* Rack rates are somewhat high; however, this is due to demand. This hotel and others around will sell out or a high occupancy rates, especially Monday - Wednesday night, due to business travelers. Book as soon as you know your schedule if you wish to stay here during your time in Ballantyne.
