| - Although Air Canada planes are on the older side, they do have more leg room than the average U.S. planes that I am accustomed to.
More to the point, though, I have to give a shout out to one of their employees, Jeff McKinnon. I was with my wife and toddler son after a flight from LaGuardia to Toronto and heading to my connecting flight to Vancouver. I always wear a money belt to put my valuables in when I travel. Somehow I had placed my passport next to, but not into, the belt. I think the passport must have fallen into my pants and when I walked out of the plane, it may have fallen out through my pants leg as I was walking around the airport.
When we picked up our luggage from the carousel, I suddenly realized that my passport was missing. My wife and I talked with Jeff, who was extremely friendly and helpful, as I was freaking out. Thankfully, we found out that I could board the next flight to Vancouver with my driver's license, since I was already in Canada. Jeff personally walked back to the flight and went on the plane (that was being turned over for another flight) but did not find my passport.
Because of the passport snafu, we missed our original connecting flight and was placed on a later one. Jeff told us as we headed to the gate that he was planning to fly to Halifax and that his gate of departure was not far from our gate. If he heard any news about the passport, he would come to let us know.
You'll have to excuse our hardened New York sensibilities here, because at this point, I had given up of any hope of finding the passport and was frantically searching the web to find out on how to get a replacement while in Vancouver.
Our son can be a handful, so we decided to board our plane near the end of the boarding line. Just as we were about to board, Jeff rushed over to me, placed my passport in my hand, and took off, leaving me flabbergasted and unable to even say 'thank you' before he rushed away (presumably to his flight).
So, here's a shout out to you, Jeff McKinnon (sp?), for saving me a very considerable amount of time and stress. My wife and I thank God for you! You really went above and beyond our expectations! Thank you! You are the reason why we plan on flying Air Canada in the future.
