  • This was my second time at The Ballroom, the first time being my friend's birthday where someone else did all the planning and all I did was drink and eventually get directed to a bowling lane where I threw gutter balls for an hour (my own fault, not The Ballroom's!). This time I had the firsthand experience of dealing with this place...my main issue being that the three different staff members I spoke to BEFORE I walked into the place for my reservation - is that nobody explained the way the bowling 'reservations' work. Employee #1) "we have you down for two lanes" and "you have to check-in when you get here" --to me this means I am on some sort of list already, and I just need to check-in upon arrival, much like one would do for a hotel reservation. Employee #2 and #3) Stated that if your bowling lane comes up within a few minutes of your dinner reservation, you can eat at your lane (who wants to bowl and eat at the same time?) or bypass to the next people in line and wait until a lane frees up again. For me this was an issue, as I needed two lanes and the odds of that were unlikely. Nobody ever mentioned that I wasn't on the waiting list for lanes until I actually got to the place, so I was a tad annoyed to see a list of about 20 people ahead of me on that list when I checked in at 9:00pm (Saturday night - I expected it to be busy, yes. But damn). One of the employees I spoke to ahead of time could have told me I might want to arrive earlier to get my name on that list, since when I "checked-in" I was told it was a minimum two hours until I MIGHT get a lane. Which then turned into "you might not even get one" and eventually that turned into "you're looking at 1:30am and you might not even get that". Also some random employee came up to my friend at one point and told him they don't take bowling reservations after 9pm, funny since everyone I spoke to knew my dinner reservation was at 9:15 and included a request for two lanes. That turned into nothing anyway, since I got my name on the list of 800 people. Considering I invited people there for my birthday party, that was not cool. On top of that, the hostess that begrudgingly sat us at our table randomly appeared by my side (I'm talking about you, surly looking brunette girl with large hoop earrings and a dull black hoodie), about 20 minutes into my reservation - and RUDELY asked if my second table was coming, because they had 10 minutes to show up - otherwise she was giving away my table. Before I could even respond she was stalking off (we met again later that night, where we gave eachother dissaproving looks /csb). If I'd had a partially used napkin by my side I'd have been tempted to fling it in her general direction. Luckily our waitress was amazing, nice blonde girl who's name I forget but she took care of us - was super nice and when she learned about the cranky hostess she basically said "fuq her" without so much saying those words. My second table was never given away, btw. Eventually I complained to a manager, who got us on the lanes within 20 minutes of said complaint being issues, rather than 1:30 in the morning or "maybe never". Unfortunately it had to come to that to save my birthday party! On a positive note, the bowling was great, waitress was great, food was really good but DAMN the food and drinks are expensive. If you aren't looking to bowl, don't bother with this place.
