A few days after I posted this review here and on the Emerald Gardens Facebook page, I was contacted by who I believe was the regional manager from Tryko (the company that owns Emerald Gardens). He was recently brought on to help turn Emerald Gardens around. He spent 40 minutes on the phone talking to me about what happened and explaining the ways Emerald Gardens is working to improve (empowering the onsite staff to assist more, getting an automatic gate system so the guard can patrol, etc.). He went back through the emails between my roommate and the onsite leasing manager and agreed the matter could have been handled a bit better. In addition, he offered to try to get me some money back on the lease termination fee I had paid. I wasn't holding my breath because this transaction was signed off on months ago, but a few weeks later a check arrived in the mail for a good chunk of that termination fee. I sincerely appreciate him taking the time to look into the situation and reach out about it as well. The partial refund was an added bonus! . After this conversation, I do feel like Emerald Gardens is turning a corner and would be willing to recommend it.
