  • I'm writing this post with mainly the Salt River Police Department in mind (the Pavilions are inside the reservation). Granted there are a few decent officers in their ranks, but most seem to be rotten apples. This pertains to the group monitoring the Saturday night car shows. They are rude, loud, obnoxious, and very unprofessional. The minute the car show ends, they begin their Nazi-like policing of the place, including driving around each aisle with all their lights blaring, speaking rudely through their speaker systems telling people to "get in your cars and go home, people", and even occasionally blipping their sirens in some kind of lame show of force. The Salt River Native Americans really need to tell their cops to loosen up and let us enjoy the show. The cops also have blocked off the exit, making it nearly impossible for cars to leave in an orderly manner, creating massive traffic jams. And not too long ago a guy left the car show in his modified Subaru and didn't break any laws. He didn't spin his tires (AWD), didn't exceed the speed limit, didn't break any law, but a cop coming the other direction decided he was going to be a jerk and pull the kid over. The cop flips on his lights, busts a high speed U-turn, smashed into the curb and went up onto the lawn not far from where people were standing. In the process of being an idiot, he broke his front suspension and lost his steering, so when he got turned around, he floored his squad car and slammed into a family in the turn lane (you can find the video on YouTube). His reckless actions are FAR more dangerous than what that poor kid did in his Subaru (which was nothing, btw). The SRPD also have a bad habit of coming through and making people leave the show who are watching the cars pull out along Indian Bend Rd. Who are they to make us leave a public sidewalk? We're not littering. We're not creating havoc. We're not doing anything wrong but watching amazing cars leave the car show. We don't need the SRPD to exit their vehicles, shine their flashlights in our faces like criminals, and round up everyone like cattle. Just let us enjoy the car show! We bring in tens of thousands of dollars to the shopping center each weekend! Not to mention the throngs of people who head over to the indoor cart racing, casino, and restaurants after the show is over. Don't bite the hand that feeds you! Remember that.
