| - I ran the Rock 'n' Roll Las Vegas Marathon Sunday, November 12, 2017. I gave 3 stars because there were a few things I thought could have been a little more well-thought out.
-The course. Near the end of the course, we ran in this parking lot that had cones. It felt like that was at least a little above 2 miles. This was boring and we were so close to being done it was a little discouraging.
-Time of the race. I like that it was a night run, but spectators are important to me as a marathoner, and there just wasn't a lot of spectators (off the strip). I'm thinking because it was a Sunday night and folks had to go to work the next morning.
-Gu energy gels. This is the first marathon out of 3 where Gu was not provided. Why? instead, they gave us SIS (Science in Sport) which wasn't very good. Please consider Gu for the future runners.
-Finishers jackets stations. I had to ask several workers at the finish line where to find my finishers jacket. I found out that it was located about .75 miles farther than the finish line which was strange. Please have the jacket stations set up closer to the finish because there was plenty of empty space to do so.
It felt like we ran about 6 miles on the strip total, and unfortunately, we didn't get to run through any live weddings.
Overall, this race is not worth the ~$200. I suggest reducing the entry fee and/or making the marathon better, or consider just having the 1/2 marathon and discontinue the marathon.
Thank you, I'm glad I experienced it!
