  • I guess I was expecting a very different experience. Basically, this place is a giant playground. Which is cool, but once the child you're taking hits 5 or 6, unless they have another kid with them, it's not too exciting. I took my 6yo Little Sister here this summer, and she was restless and bored most of the time. We had the most fun with painting on the window (though she actually enjoyed cleaning the window with the squeegee more than painting, but it was still fun!). The rest was obviously below her interest, at least without another kid she knew to play with. And, honestly, there wasn't that much variety in things to play with. The giant hamster wheel was also a favorite, but I think that's because there just wasn't that much else for her to do. It is worth noting that the outside exhibits were closed when I was there, and it seems like there might be more educational content out there. I'm used to educational displays that are also fun. I guess I was spoiled by the Science Museum in Minnesota, as well as the Children's Museum in St. Paul. Lots of fun stuff to play with and educational. Also, the painting area was completely out of paper towels (it was getting towards the end of the day) and when we asked staff for some towels, they simply went in one of the closed off rooms and grabbed a few for us to use, rather than finding a new roll for the dispenser. I actually got a membership, as I thought my Little was young enough for this to be a regular occurrence. I don't think we'll be back, and while I don't begrudge the membership fee, I feel like I get more than enough emails about Adult Swim events that they could practically keep all of it open for adults on set evenings, because slightly drunk adults probably enjoy it more than kids over five.
