I'd heard a lot of good things about this patisserie before coming here, and my expectations perked up even further when I arrived to see how immaculate and exquisite the venue and all the treats looked. Unfortunately, for me these expectations didn't sync up with reality.
I tried the North Star pastry as well as several macarons on site, and neither tasted anywhere near as good as it looked. As D.S. correctly notes, there must be so much effort into making every one of these treats look *amazing* on the surface, yet that doesn't translate into taste.
For me, I couldn't discern much taste *at all* in the North Star. Usually, you'd think anything would taste good when you're hungry, but I was just shocked at how bland it all was. Same went for the macarons. The shells didn't taste fresh at all, and the fillings were also bland. Like night and day compared to real macarons I've had in Paris from famous houses like Pierre Herme or Laduree.
Additionally, the service was rather perfunctory when I stopped by. Just a huge disappointment all around.
