to start with..easy to get to in central phoenix. lots of free parking in an open lot adjacent to museum (bring a sunscren for your car windows in summer). beautiful modern, yet inviting structure, much larger than i had expected. inside there are multiple wings with 3 floors of galleries. we visited soecifically for an exhibit celebrating 50 years of the museum's fashion institute. it was a wonderful display of womans gowns from the early 1700s in france thru today. it included a charles jame gown, Chanel, alexande r mcqueen and gowns worn by nancy reagan and kate winslet to the oscars. i recommend taking the docent tour (our guide on june 18th was great!) which added more insight i did not see an audio tour offered of that, it woukd have added more color and richness to the ecperience. we also did two other exhibits, a photo examination of the oblisks from 1890/that established the physical border markers with mexico and a kinetic art display. the most memorable display is called fireflies on the 3rd floor. great for kids of all ages...if its there when you go make sure to see it. ate at restsurant palette, it was very good and affordable. we will be back.
