| - Wow! A great experience. After 6 months of growing out my roots I couldn't stand the contrast (gray with very fake-dark ends) but color correction is time consuming, so I needed a shop that specialized in color where I could discuss my options.
Isle of You really impressed me from start to finish:
1. The website offers a truly great online booking tool that shows you all the services, costs, stylists, and open appointments available.
2. When I selected a color appointment, the online system directed me to schedule a consult at no charge first. This simple requirement was perfect for me but also seemed like a very effective way to manage expectations. I really appreciated it.
3. During my consult appointment I was warmly welcomed by everyone, to my great relief. I have wasted a lot of life energy on stylists who think making others feel small is a good technique to get customers to pay them a premium, grovel for appointments, tolerate unskilled assistants, use whatever products they want to push..but at Isle of You no one is doing anything rude, fussy, greedy, or pretentious. Everyone is just kind, caring, and efficient. Jessica and I agreed on a strategy & then, even though the front area was busy, Jess was able to easily pick up a laptop and show me the weekly schedule, so we could quickly work out a good day and time and book it without me having to wait in line.
4. The salon was very responsive (nearly instantly) to a question I posted online after the consult and their automated reminder system helped me get to the appointment on time.
5. In a pretty bad snowstorm, Jessica showed up an hour before the salon normally opens to do my hair. Pretty amazing extra service considering I was a first-time customer.
So before I even began my color appointment, Isle of You has already done FIVE impressive things.
Then I had 5-6 hours to observe everything that happened that day, and trust me, this shop is special. Green flag: No one canceled their appointments due to bad weather (and it was BAD that morning). It was packed all day. Green flag: Totally inclusive. Every size shape color gender, age, and lifestyle choice of person came in. Even a teenage girl's Dad felt comfortable hanging out there reading his book while he waited for her!! Green flag: Efficient teamwork. Stylists worked their butts off without stopping, were fun and nice to each other & every customer looked great.
So what's not to love? It could have less clutter & tight spaces. But who cares. UPDATE - I'm here now & the place has been completely remodeled since my last visit - the space is much wider and decluttered! Yay!
