After researching DirecTV bundled with CenturyLink, I decided to pull the trigger and signed up through CenturyLink Sales Associate Michael Hounshell. Although I was concerned about numerous reviews revolving around billing complaints, Michael assured me that having a local point of contact would mitigate such concerns. In fact, I could cancel free of charge if not completely satisfied with the service. The first anticipated DirecTV bill arrived just before install and was $40 per month higher than quoted. I immediately got ahold of Michael who was perplexed by the issue and his so called contacts couldn't assist either. Michael then had the nerve to tell me to proceed with the install as the issues could then be addressed through billing which would be much easier. Already having sucker stamped directly to my forehead, I opted to cancel everything free of charge as he previously mentioned. Well, Michael said it was done on his end, but I would have to contact DirecTV myself. After hours with customer service reps, I got DirecTV and the $121.28 CenturyLink bill (received a month later after Mike "fixed" it) cancelled. Thanks for taking care of things Mike! I am still not certain if there will be further repercussions, but I do know that I will NEVER return to one of these companies.
