| - If you're considering going to Vegas, I urge you to loosen up the purse strings and stay elsewhere.
My wife and I usually stay at The Cosmopolitan, but we decided to stay somewhere cheaper this trip because the Cosmo was pushing $1000 for two nights.
Here are a few reasons why I'll never go back to the MGM:
Paper-thin walls: My wife and I had the pleasure of listening to our neighbors puking.
Starbucks: My wife had a free "birthday drink" loaded to her Starbucks card. After waiting in line for quite a long time, she scanned her card and it took money off of her gift card and didn't honor the free drink because they are not a "corporate" location (not sure how we were supposed to know this). We had to wait in the long line AGAIN, and then wait for someone to be called up that could issue a refund. Ridiculous.
Tiny rooms: Our room was clean, but was very small (tower room). We did have somewhat of a "strip view", but there's not much to look at south of the MGM, which is where our room faced. The room was also clean which was a plus.
Fees: Parking fees, resort fees, $8 6-pack of Oreos, etc. This is pretty common in Vegas, but it still bothers me. We stayed two nights and owed close to $100 on top of what we already paid for the room.
The people: Nice mixture of classy and trashy.
Walking: This place is HUGE, so walking from the parking garage to the room can be quite a feat. If you're going to charge me for parking, at least make it convenient! You could probably park at the Tropicana at no cost and have a shorter walk.
