I was excited that Kevin Binkley opened a place in central Phoenix. Myself and an old friend enjoyed the short ribs, muscles, duck, salmon, arugula salad, and brussel sprouts.
The service was great. The patio was lovely until the night lights came on too bright and shined down on our heads. We were told they were on a timer and they were not sure if they could be dimmed. I think when you are the only people on the patio being disturbed by the lights, the staff could figure out how to unplug them or find a manger to handle it.
The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The 2 exceptions were the brussel sprouts and peanut butter creme brûlée. Both of the dishes were WAY over dressed. Whomever made them most likely was NOT following the Chefs recipe. I have never known Chef Kevin to be soooo heavy handed. The brussel sprouts were oily and drenched in the sauce. The creme brûlée was like eating a bowl of peanut butter topped with cereal. Both were inedible and the server should have asked why they were not enjoyed but the table is cleared by a bus boy that I don't really think is interested in your dining experience, just focused on his job of clearing plates.
I would say all of these issues would have been resolved/addressed if a manger would have come by, but there didn't appear to be one on duty. We didn't mention any of these issues as we were busy catching up after several years and Did not want to take the time out to express our comments. On the overall though I would recommend it and will go back.
