| rev:text | Stayed at the Mandalay Bay resort with my family in March 2018, and we liked our stay.
The main reason we chose this resort was for the pool and the view. We paid the upgraded rate for a Strip view, and we found the view to be awesome, especially in the evening. Definitely worth the extra money.
The pool is also very nice. They have a lazy river (I believe you have to pay for an innertube, they do not provide them unless you have a cabana). There is a large wave pool where the life guards get paid per whistle blow and they must be rich because the whistle blowing is non stop and for no reason that I could see. There are several other nice size pools and jacuzzis. The pool area does get very busy, your first mission will be just to find a chair or a place to sit. There are also restaurants, bars, and servers in the pool area.
The resort is very large, and well maintained. Lots of gambling, shops, restaurants, and other entertainment venues. Just as you would expect.
The room was medium size, nicely decorated, very clean and well maintained. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. There is a small refrigerator but it is filled with overpriced sodas and snacks, so it's really unusable. Lot so closet and drawer space. There is also a room safe.
The bathroom was very large and very nice, with a private toilet area, double sinks, a separate shower and tub.
The negatives - the resort is almost too large. If you call the operator, the phone could ring for a long time before answered. The staff are hit and miss; some are super friendly and helpful, some will not even acknowledge you if you are standing directly in front of them waiting to ask a question (true story). Expect to be nickled and dimed, on top of the regular room rate they have the resort fee, the SELF parking fee, Valet parking fee, guranteed early check in fee, etc.
I would come back, but only for the pool, and then only if the lifeguards would stop blowing their whistles for 20 minutes. If were only be during off season also. |
