| - I stayed here recently for one night on a weeknight as I was in Calgary and wished to be close to both the LRT and Foothills Hospital. In terms of location, it was excellent and really met my needs. Other highlights included the friendly staff, very comfortable bed, newness of the facility, modern design, and price, which I thought was reasonable.
I booked through Expedia though and didn't realize there was a discount for alumni if you booked direct on Alma's website, so if you slogged though four or more years at the U, you should definitely take advantage of the lower rate!
A few points of critique:
-The room was on the smaller end of what you might expect for a standard. Two people in a standard room would be especially tight.
-The hotel seemed to be used for a lot of large functions, events, hosting sports teams, etc. so don't be surprised when the Korean basketball or Russian hockey teams come barreling through the lobby.
-In the summer, many of the restaurants, stores, pubs etc. on campus are operating on reduced hours; so, if you're hoping for a bite or drink within walking distance, you might have to plan ahead.
Despite these small points, I really appreciated Alma and could see myself going back. I didn't have time to take advantage of the free breakfast or free access to campus fitness facilities, but free wi-fi was certainly a plus as well!
