  • My experience at this office was...interesting, to say the least. I want to start off first by saying that Dr. Chen is extremely knowledgable and you can tell this by the way she explains everything to you. So this review is more so on the office than on the doctor herself. As a note: I worked at two different doctor's offices in my life. So I'm not some random person complaining. That being said... I arrived to my appointment on time like they asked. The office was extremely hard to find, and when I walked in, I was very put off. The office interior is extremely old and almost dirty looking. There is no music playing or TV going. Complete silence. I filled out my paperwork and then someone called me back to another waiting room? I've never heard of that happening and I don't understand why I had to move to another room. As I'm waiting in this other room, I can hear the doctor and her assistant talking loudly. I can hear the assistant ask if I was here yet (all she had to do was pop her head in). She then started complaining to the doctor about how busy it has been and other random complaints about how the office was run. Very loudly. Which is super unprofessional and awkward. Finally, she decided to look and sees that I'm here. She pulls me into the hall and asks, "Were you late?" I told her no I arrived on time. She says 'oh' and leads me to the room. Again. Awkward. You can tell this office is very poorly run. As I was waiting for the doc in my room, I could head every word she was saying to the patient across the hall. The walls were that thin. And again, with no music or any noise in the office, I could hear every word. This sounds like a huge HIPPA violation to me. I wouldn't want another patient hearing the doctor and I discuss medical issues that I've been having! My visit with the doc was pretty quick, but that's how it is per any dermatologist. I wanted to bring up issues on my eczema and acne, but she completely ignored the acne part. I had to ask her last minute about it and she gave me a sample of a mask to use. I really wanted to go over it in detail, but nope. Fine. Again, she was very knowledgable and gave me advice for my eczema that no other doc has told me before. On my way out, there were two receptionists. One was being occupied, so I went to the one not doing anything. The other receptionist told me that I had to check out! Yeah, I know this, that's why I was heading to the unoccupied woman...but the other woman told me that she would take care of me. When it looked like she was helping out another woman. So I awkwardly go over to her. She told me that they'd send me a reminder to schedule my appointment in a year. Fine. I asked her about my prescription. She said yes they were sending it in, but 'don't expect it to be done today'. It was 11am. Why should I not expect it to be done today? Seriously? That is inexcusable. The office did not look that busy enough for a receptionist to tell me that I wouldn't even have my prescription that day. Turns out, CVS texted me saying my insurance didn't cover whatever they prescribed. Whatever. I'll make do with the stuff I have. Everyone was nice. I didn't have anyone be super rude to me. But my experience was not good and I will never go back. I guess each doctor has those few patients that love them and want to come back, and I'm glad Dr. Chen has those because she seems like a nice and knowledgable doctor. But I will not be one of those patients.
